The Biz: A Story of Passion, Perseverance, and Performance
From a One-Night Class to a Thriving Creative Space.
In 2008, Samantha took the leap to start something extraordinary. Fresh off her international tours and West End debut at Sunday Night Live at the Palladium, she was eager to share her wealth of knowledge and love for the arts. What began as a single night of vocal coaching in a local theatre soon blossomed into The Biz - School of Performing Arts Ltd. Fast forward 17 years, and what was once a modest class is now a vibrant, purpose-built creative hub with five custom-built studios.
But the journey to get here was anything but simple. There were knockbacks, venue challenges, and a fair share of late nights and early mornings. Yet, Samantha’s unwavering determination, coupled with the support of her family, kept the dream alive. Today, The Biz stands tall, offering a space where performers of all ages and abilities can grow, thrive, and shine.
Meet the Driving Force:
Samantha and Her Team
Samantha’s love for the arts began at a young age, and her journey has been nothing short of inspiring. A professional singer since the age of 18, she has toured internationally and never stopped performing. With 95%+ distinctions in every practical exam and unit at degree level and above, her passion for excellence is matched only by her love for teaching. Currently working on her Master’s in Musical Theatre, Samantha remains a lifelong learner and mentor.
Her team shares her vision and commitment. Each teacher is a professional in their discipline, ensuring that students receive top-tier training. Whether it’s dance, drama, or music class, every lesson at The Biz is led with expertise, passion, and heart.
A Family Affair
What makes The Biz truly special is its family-run ethos. Samantha’s husband, Steve, co-owns the school and brings his unique flair to the business side. Their children, Riley and Connor, are integral to the daily running of the school—from keeping the studios tidy to helping with events. Even Samantha’s mum pitches in during shows, while her dad holds the unique honour of naming the business! (Fun fact: The Biz was nearly called “A1 Performing Arts” – not quite as catchy, right?)
A Home for Aspiring Stars
From the beginning, The Biz has been about more than just technique and training. It’s a place where students can dream big, work hard, and feel part of a community. Whether you’re a child taking your first steps in dance or an adult rekindling your love for the stage, there’s a spot for you here.
Over the years, countless students have gone on to tour the world, teach, and even star in West End productions. And while their successes are a testament to their talent and dedication, they’re also a reflection of the supportive, nurturing environment that Samantha and her team have worked so hard to create.
